I’m a writer of non-fiction and literary criticism. My interests lie in stories about chronic illness, academic life and cultural texts.
I was born in Kyiv, Ukraine when it was part of the Soviet Union. At the age of ten, my family and I immigrated to the US, settling in San Francisco.
I studied Comparative Literature at UC San Diego, where I earned a PhD.
